This week, I’ve been talking about Team ThumbsUp sponsors who have made our bid for the Swim For Alligator Lighthouse a reality. If it weren’t for them, Kerry, Caryn, Lilly, Chiqui, our families and support crew would not be heading down to Key Largo this weekend to show #ThereAreNoLimits. Today I get to talk about a sponsor who has supported not just ThumbsUp but TriathlonMami from the beginning: See Me In The Dark.
See Me In The Dark customizes anything you dream of. It was the brainchild of my friend and local elite triathlete Mickey Witte and her husband Ryan. Because Mickey would often train before sunrise in the dark, Ryan thought of making her clothing that would reflect light making her visible to cars. However, Mickey did not want to sacrifice style for safety and See Me In The Dark was born.
Mickey has been an advocate for road safety even before starting her company, having participated in the GEICO Road Safety Bike Tour and being one of the leaders in passing the Aaron Cohen Life Protection Act, as I write about here. She is another example of putting her money where her mouth is.
Today, See Me In The Dark has made thousands of runners and cyclists safer by customizing their gear. They even have a line for animals to make sure both you and your pooch can #beSEEN. The process is quite simple: choose your item from their extensive inventory, type in your customized reflective line, and boom. You are done. While there, you can also check out the TriathlonMami collection. If you ever see me in person, chances are I will be wearing one of those shirts!
If you don’t find what you like, or want to customize something from your closet, you can do that too. Just go to “Customize My Stuff” and tell See Me In The Dark how to make you visible.
Every time I get a new triathlon or cycling kit, I send it to SMID. I fill out the form and ask them put reflective material in the shape of my logo and my team logo everywhere. Same is true for most of my running stuff. It’s an easy step to take that makes me feel a little safer out there.
And for you cyclists, See Me In The Dark has reflective decals which make you impossible to miss!
So if you are thinking about adding some reflectivity to your gear check out See Me In The Dark. And when you do … please thank them for their part in showing #ThereAreNoLimits.
Team ThumbsUp is grateful for all our wonderful sponsors: Hilton Key Largo, Athleta Coral Gables, Balance Diet Institute, Trivillage.com, Train2Give, Active Disabled Americans, SeeMeInThe Dark, and Ultrabikex Studio.
