Our ThumbsUp team has been hard at work getting ready for the eight mile open water Swim For Alligator Lighthouse. From organizing logistics to training, we are getting ready. There are lots of things that can go wrong though none of us are counting on it, what we are counting on is our sponsors who are making this crazy dream a reality. There are no limits. If we can pull this off, what can’t you do?
I’ve mentioned The Hilton Key Largo Resort, and our two not for profit sponsors Train2Give and Active Disabled Americans before. We also count on Trivillage.com, See Me In The Dark, Ultrabikex Studio and Balance Diet Institute. Today, I wanted to share with you Athleta who jumped on board immediately.
If you don’t know Athleta, it is a female fitness clothing line from the same company as Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic among others. You can check their website here. I had heard about them, but had never actually made it to a store until recently that I met the folks at the Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables. OMG. Their clothing takes fitness wear to a new level. It’s hard not to want to buy EVERYTHING.
The nice thing is that if you do buy something, Athleta wants you to wear it. You know how sometimes you are not sure that something that looks good will feel good around mile five? Athleta says no problem, use it and if it doesn’t work out, return it.
They know their product, and know you will love it so they are willing to back it up.
The Coral Gables store also has created a community. It hosts Yoga and Barre classes amongst other activities. It also has a run club that meets on Mondays nights. Here is their schedule for this month if you are interested.
Their motto is Power To The She, and want to empower women. Just as they support our all women’s team, they also support Girls On The Run which is opening a Miami Chapter.
Not only do they back up their product by telling you can return it if you don’t like it, but they put their money where their mouth is in terms of support. This past Saturday, 10% of sales from the Village of Merrick Park store went to our Team.
We were there to introduce ourselves to customers, and to have them sign our good luck flag. We wanted the store and those who were helping us by shopping that day to be a part of our team. Therefore we created a flag that we will sail on or support boat during the race. When we look at it, we will remember all the nice people we met and have wished us well. From the family visiting from France who had to endure my awful attempt of speaking their language, to the mother daughter duo who just moved to Miami.
It was a great event and we wanted to whole heartedly thank Athleta and their Coral Gables staff for being wonderful hosts, supporters, and people.
We hope to be back there soon, dreaming up something else that gives Power To The She.
